Saga Sigurðardóttir
Saga Sigurðardóttir ist in Reykjavík geboren und lebt dort. 2006 machte sie ihren Abschluss als Dance Maker an der ArtEZ Academy (NL), schloss 2017 ihr MFA-Studium in Performing Arts an der Iceland University of the Arts ab und hat einen BA in Theologie von der Universität Island. Ihre vielseitigen choreografischen Arbeiten führten zu Kollaborationen zwischen Tanz und Theater, Musikproduktionen, performativen Installationen für Museen, Galerieauftritten und Metal-Festivals.
Derzeit arbeitet Saga mit der Iceland Dance Company und ist zudem Kernmitglied der isländischen Theaterkollektive Marble Crowd, 16 Lovers und der Performance-Band PPBB. Als Tänzerin hat sie in den vergangenen Jahren unter anderem bei Produktionen von Erna Ómarsdóttir & Shalala, Halla Ólafsdóttir, Elina Pirinen und Alexandra Bachzetsis mitgewirkt. Sie erhielt Nominierungen und Auszeichnungen u.a. von den Icelandic Performing Arts Awards und dem TANZ Magazin ("Hoffnungsträger" mit Marble Crowd Collective, 2017). Saga hat eine Teilzeitstelle als Associate Professor an der Iceland University of the Arts.
Saga Sigurðardóttir is born and based in Reykjavík. She graduated as Dance Maker from ArtEZ Academy (NL) in 2006, finalized her MFA studies in Performing Arts from Iceland University of the Arts in 2017 and holds a BA in Theology from Iceland University.
Saga´s choreographic work and collaborations have touched multiple contexts; dance and theater, music production, performative installations for museums, gallery gigs and metal festivals. To name some.
Saga is currently engaged with the Iceland Dance Company and is also a core-member of Icelandic theater collectives Marble Crowd, 16 Lovers and The PPBB performance band. Among other involvements in the past years Saga has worked as dancer with choreographers Erna Ómarsdóttir & Shalala, Halla Ólafsdóttir, Elina Pirinen and Alexandra Bachzetsis.
Saga has received nominations and awards as dancer and maker, such as by the Icelandic Performing Arts Awards and TANZ Magazine (‘Hoffnungsträger’ with Marble Crowd Collective, 2017).
Saga holds a part time position as Associate Professor at Iceland University of the Arts.
