Geboren in Japan studierte Emi Miyoshi Tanz an der Universität Ehime, Japan. 1999 gründete sie das Tanzkollektiv “yummydance” mit sechs japanischen Tänzerinnen. Zugleich ist sie als Choreografin mit eigenen Stücken tätig. Ihre Tanzstücke wurden auf verschiedenen Tanzfestivals gezeigt, u. a. beim Toyota Choreography Award 2005 (Tokio), beim Tanzfestival dampf 05, bei Tanz NRW 07 (Köln) und beim Internationalen Tanz Festival (Freiburg). Von 2005 an arbeitete sie in der Tanzkompanie “Pretty Ugly Tanz Köln“ am Theater Köln unter der Leitung von Amanda Miller. 2008 bekam Emi Miyoshi von der Kunststiftung NRW ein Stipendium und war als Choreografin am SiWiC (Schweizerischer international Weiterbildungskurs in Choreografie mit Jochen Heckmann) tätig. Seit 2013 arbeitet sie in Freiburg als Choreografin und Tänzerin in verschiedenen Projekten mit Künstler_innen, Musiker_innen und Tänzer_innen. Im Jahr 2016 erhält Emi Miyoshi eine 3-jährige Konzeptionsförderung des Kulturamts der Stadt Freiburg. 2017 und 2018 gewann sie den Tanz- und Theaterpreis der Stadt Stuttgart und des Landes Baden-Württemberg.

In 2005 she has worked in the dance company "Pretty Ugly Tanz Köln" at the theatre of Cologne under the direction of Amanda Miller. In 2008 she received a scholarship as one of the upcoming choreographers from the Kunststiftung NRW and participated as a choreographer at the SiWiC (Swiss international education course in choreography with Jochen Heckmann). Since 2013 she works in Freiburg as a choreographer and dancer in various projects with artists, musicians and dancers. In 2016, Emi Miyoshi received a 3-years grant from the City of Freiburg. She has won the Dance and Theatre-award of Stuttgart and the state of Baden Württemberg in 2017 and 2018.
